Ilan was a young man with a deep love for Torah and the Land of Israel.
During his childhood and adolescence, Ilan studied at the Yosef Karo School. He had many friends, he loved to play soccer and ping pong.
Participated in a lot of social activities and camping trips, from there always came back with injuries and we had to go to the doctor immediately.
During adolescence, Ilan volunteered to help in the synagogue to organize the books, participated in charities by organizing, assembling and distributing food packages to needy families.
He also learned to blow the shofar and went to the homes of people who couldn’t get to the synagogue and blew the shofar for them, and he did so especially during the Covid period.
While in high school, he discovered his love for geography. He finished reading the book they had to study throughout the year in the first week. He also printed maps of the whole world and learned the names of capital cities, and he would ask me (his mother) to examine him and see if he really knew them.
During this time, his love for reading books and Torah study also began.
From the age of 16, he understood that the establishment of the State of Israel was a miracle and that all he wanted was to live in Israel. When he finished high school, he went to Israel to study in a yeshiva, and this indeed strengthened his desire to immigrate to Israel and enlist in the army. He would say: “Your country gives you everything: it gives you an identity and a place to live. Won’t you give her back a year and a half of your life?”
After a process of searching for a way to combine religious studies with service in the army, he found what he was looking for at the Har Bracha yeshiva.
In April 2023, he enlisted in the IDF and served in the Paratroopers Brigade, 202nd Battalion, Arrow (in Hebrew: Hetz – Haredim Tzanjanim) Company as a granade launcher, and it was important for him to perform this role in the best possible way.
Towards the end of the advanced training, the “Iron Swords” war broke out. His unit was sent to Kibbutz Be’eri and later to Gaza.
Ilan and his friends received the paratroopers’ beret inside Gaza, where he fought for many months. We managed to send him a cake into Gaza for his 20th birthday that he celebrated on the 14th of Shvat.
Ilan fell in battle in Jabalia on Yiar 7, tshpd, May 15, 2024.
Throughout his free time and during the war, Ilan loved to read books: books about the holy, books about historical figures and beautiful literature.
He loved photography and especially photographing the sunset.
Ilan has many friends who love and appreciate him very much and they say that he used to talk to them about various topics, always with a smile and optimism and he entered the hearts of everyone who knew him.
In the last few months he had a girlfriend, whom he loved very much.
Ilan was a very independent person and managed in Israel even when he was far from his nuclear family. He managed to pass a driver’s license test, planned to study economics and geography at the university, and saw his future in Israel.
Ilan was a man of ideals and deeds and he did not stop until he reached 100%.
We only ask for the earliest redemption in our days so that we can meet again.
